In what is surely a cautionary tale for us all, a U.S. student got stuck inside a giant vulva statue in Tübingen, Germany last Friday.
The young man had apparently climbed into the statue’s womanly crevice for a lark when his lower body became trapped. Naturally, the student’s friend posted photos of the incident online for all the world to see.
According to local paper Schwäbisches Tagblatt, 22 firefighters and five vehicles were on scene to assist with the delivery, which probably says more about the lack of other emergencies in Tübingen than the severity of the situation.
The vulva in question is Pi-Chacán, a work by Peruvian artist Fernando de la Jara that sits outside the Tübingen University Institute of Microbiology. The name means “making love,” which this student failed to do tenderly. It’s reportedly worth €120,000, but it appears neither the vulva nor the dimwitted man within were damaged.
There are plenty of jokes to be made here about American tourists or the benefits of lubrication, but in this case the photos speak for themselves.
