An American researcher is turning social equality research into child’s play.

Richard Reeves, a fellow with the non-profit think tank Brookings Institution, uses LEGO to illustrate how difficult the “American Dream” can be to realize. We can argue endlessly about the wealth distribution between the richest and poorest, but the essence of America is supposed to be mobility between those groups. It’s not that simple, as Reeves demonstrates.

“America has a dream of equal opportunity and we’re a very long way, right now, from that dream,” Reeves said. “We have a big problem and we need big solutions.”
