Explosions, pepper spray and more in our videos of the week!

The biggest blast in Ottawa’s history was over in seconds on Sunday, reducing the 11-storey John Carling Building to 40,000 tonnes of rubble by 420 kilograms of explosives. The Citizen’s Darren Brown was on the scene to capture the cool explosion!

“I’ve never experienced pain like that in my life,” said RCMP Auxiliary Constable recruit Brad Wahl. Wahl was one of 15 RCMP Auxiliary Constable Program recruits who were sprayed with pepper spray on Saturday. Each recruit got a face full of burning oleoresin capsicum (OC) before frantically completing a short obstacle course. The Edmonton Journal’s Ryan Jackson had his eye on this story.

The Ottawa Citizen’s Wayne Cuddington took to the skies on Thursday with Greg Reynolds who piloted his 1940 Waco biplane over the city. Wayne captured some awesome shots from high above in this video.

In this second instalment of the National Post series “It Happened in Canada” Tristan Hopper talks about how Canada made Leon Trotsky miss the opening months of the Russian Revolution in this video.

In “My Big Fab Indian Wedding” The Vancouver Sun profiles a young local couple planning a big Sikh wedding. This is the first in a series of three videos that will cover Serena Rai’s big fabulous Indian wedding.

Finally, Edmonton Journal food writer Liane Faulder checks out the Filistix Food Truck at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. This mouth watering video provided, once again, by Ryan Jackson.
